Actor, advocate and author Ashley Judd is coming to Ketchum Monday, Feb. 20, for a speaking engagement at Our Lady of the Snows church to raise awareness and funding for programs provided by the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Judd, recently seen in the uplifting family film “Dolphin Tale” and the critically acclaimed “Helen”, about a woman and her family dealing with mental illness, will be signing copies of her book about her philanthropic work and how it rose from her own recovery from depression.

“All That is Bitter & Sweet” is Judd’s memoir of life as the baby of the family adrift while her sister Wynona and mother Naomi rose to fame in the country music world and how the experience led her to humanitarian work abroad.

Tickets are $25 for the 7 p.m. event and are available by calling 720-9145 or 720-9631 or at Iconoclast Books. No cameras allowed.

There is also a philanthropic luncheon Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m at the home of Susan and Jerry Flynt. Tickets are $500.

Posted by Jess on February 20, 2011 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Ashley Judd likely will make a return to the small screen in ABC’s Missing, Deadline.com reports.

Formerly titled Safe and Hall of Mirrors, the series follows former CIA agent Becca Winstone (Judd) who travels to Europe to find her son after he disappears in Italy while abroad for an internship.

The project was written by Greg Poirier (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) and is executive-produced by Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo (The Gates). Steve Shill, who won an Emmy for his work on Dexter, is on board to direct.

Missing was initially slated for a summer debut, but has been pushed to a fall launch.

Judd, 42, had a role on NBC’s Sisters from 1991-1994 and starred in the 1996 TV movie Norma Jean and Marilyn, for which she received an Emmy nomination.
